CRIMSON MAT NEWS, 1/24/06
hope everyone is doing well since the last time we
gave you an update. We are almost finished with the
dreaded final exams. Once they are complete, its full
steam ahead into our Ivy Season and post season tournaments.
The team is doing well and has been doing a great
job getting their workouts in during this time. Here
is a recap of our past few competitions:
The
Midlands: December 29-30
We
took 6 wrestlers out to The Midlands immediately after
the holiday. Bobby Latessa (149), Andrew Flanagan
(157), Mike Baria (165), Joe Bechtold (174), Louis
Caputo (184), and Bode Ogunwole (hwt). All six wrestlers
wrestled well and got some valuable experience in
one of the toughest tournaments in the country. The
highlight was Bode’s 4th place finish. This
was the second year in a row that Bode has placed
in the top 4 of this tournament. For more details
on the tournament and standings, go to:

The
Lonestar Duals: January 7
Our
duals down in Texas marked the return of Tri-captain,
Max Meltzer at 141, and it couldn’t have come
at a better time. We went 1-2 but had some very good
individual performances throughout the day, highlighted
by Meltzer’s pin of returning All American,
Michael Keefe of Tennessee Chattanooga. This proves
that Max is well on his way for greatness in March.
Robbie Preston (133) unfortunately suffered a hamstring
injury which hurt us in team scoring, but he should
be back for our important duals and end of the year.
