CRIMSON MAT NEWS, 11/22/05

ESU Open

Our season finally started off after a long preseason. It was great to get
them wrestling someone other than their teammates. Robbie Preston '07 lead
the team by capturing the championship at 133 pounds. Four other Crimson
wrestlers placed in the top six including two freshmen (Andrew Flanagan 5th
at 157 lbs. and Louis Caputo 3rd at 188 lbs.) and two sophomores (Matt
Button 4th at 149 lbs. and Joe Bechtold 8th at 174 lbs.).

Overall, the team wrestled very well. It was a good start as we gear up for
our big tournament in Las Vegas next weekend. We are still nursing a few
injuries with Junior tri-captain, Max Meltzer (141 lbs.) and sophomore Bobby
Latessa (149 lbs.). Both wrestlers will be back soon and will surely add to
what we have already been building. For more results, go to

Fall Kick-off Tailgate

This was our first tailgate over Freshmen Parent's weekend. It was a great
success and was good time to introduce the new parents to the program and
get the excitement rolling. Although it was late October in New England,
the snow came blowing in and treated us to a white-out during the tailgate.
Go figure! We warmed up in Kirkland House Junior Common room for a
reception with alums and parents and the team introduced themselves. All in
all, it was a good weekend and a nice way to jump-start the season.

Alumni News

Anthony Ackil '99 was a dual sport athlete here at Harvard while playing
football and some wrestling at the end of his career. He has teamed up with
his boyhood friend and opened up a restaurant here in downtown Boston over
two years ago. The name of the restaurant is b. good (http://bgood.com).
It went so well in its infancy that they recently opened up another
restaurant right here in Harvard Square. We all wish you the best of luck,
Anthony!

Joel Friedman '98 recently got engaged to Jamie Jantzen. And to answer your
question, yes, Jamie is the sister of Jesse Jantzen '04. Congratulations
Joel and Jamie!!
